Movie Plot:
Set in the near future, a time when mind-control technology has taken society by storm. Humans control other humans in a mass-scale, multiplayer online game. Reclusive billionaire Ken Castle has created the controversial form of entertainment, "Slayers," a hugely popular game that allows millions to act out their innermost desires and fantasies -- online -- in front of a global audience. Gaming has evolved into a terrifying new dimension-mind control-manipulation-people playing people.

At the center is Kable, the superstar and cult hero of "Slayers," the savage, ultra-violent first person shooter game. Kable is controlled by Simon, a young gamer with rock star status who continues to defy all odds by guiding Kable to victory each week. Taken from his family, imprisoned and forced to fight against his will, the modern day gladiator must survive long enough to escape the game to free his family, regain his identity and to save mankind from Castle's ruthless technology.

Story: An old story with a new touch, the story begins with a group of friends and leading the boys is Jai (Imran Khan) who is a soft spoken, cool as a cucumber guy while the girls are headed by Aditi (Genelia) who is an absolute opposite, she is aggressive, fiery, does not hesitate to pick up a fight and very dynamic. Both Jai and Aditi are contrasts but then they sure have the eye for each other and though love is not expressed at all, the romance is already sensed by Jai's parents (Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Shah) and Aditi's parents (Jayant Kripalani and Anuradha Patel). Also sensing it is the group of friends Jiggy (Nirav), Sugandha (Shaleen), Rotlu (Karan), Bombs (Alishka) who share some real camaraderie and friendship. However, the question is when do Jai and Aditi get to realize that they are in love? Things do take a sharp turn with the arrival of love from a different angle in the form of a pretty girl (Manjari Phadnis) Do they get to confess it to each other? What happens in the end forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The debutante director has handled a several times used story in a deft manner and he has shown that with a good presentation and narration, even a known subject can be impressive. However, he needs to tune up his narration bit since that played the spoilsport at some valid junctions. The dialogues are breezy, the screenplay is sensible, the script is fine but has few loopholes. The music is outstanding while the camera has been top notch. The costumes are trendy and the art director came up with a good job from his end. Imran Khan has come across with an impressive performance given his debut attempt and with a low profile character, he has surely marched into the hearts of many. On the other hand Genelia was the life and soul of the movie and one needs to commend this pretty girl for her spontaneity in humorous and sentimental situations with such brilliance. Naseeruddin Shah is matchless while Ratna is interesting. Jayant and Anuradha looked graceful as the couple while Rajat Kapoor and Kitu Gidwani looked elegant. Ayaz Khan and Prateik were revelations. Manjari is a show stealer and she is one extraordinary beauty. The others did their bits with the required professionalism and added value to the film. Conclusion: Despite a routine subject, the novelty has been creative and the whole film was executed with a different treatment. The first half is actually rocking with really interesting scenes, energy and good technical values and once the audience sets foot into the second half with a lot of expectations, they are disappointed due to the inclusion of unwanted scenes and lengthy durations. Also, the climax of the film has been seen in many movies and it was predictable that played against its momentum. Overall, the film is definitely enjoying and though a blockbuster is impossible it will surely be a money grosser for the makers. verdict : Worth watching it once, youth will love it.

Story: A beaten and worn out tale, the film begins with the Amaan (Adhvik) who is given a task by the police commissioner (Vibha Chibbar), he needs to get inside the underworld as a sleeper into the gang of the dreaded and powerful RD (Sumeet). The idea is to put an end to all the mayhem created by RD and his gang and added to that Amaan has his own personal scores to settle with the mafia. There are characters like Iya (Sakshi), Ghoonga (Upyendra Limaye), his wife (Amruta Subhash) and others. Amaan slowly starts finding his way up the ladder in the underworld hierarchy and slowly gains the confidence of RD and his key henchmen. Once he gets to the established position, Amaan starts bumping off the baddies one after the other and as expected the news reaches RD. Soon, a showdown happens and is Amaan successful in his mission forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director needs no rating as he is by far the best in the show business and though his presentation was good, the narration has turned out to be a disaster. The script was a mess, the screenplay was sensible, dialogues were dull, music was average, camera was good, editing was numb, the art and locations were natural and scenic. Adhvik has surely come across with some good performance and he fits the bill of the perfect Varma find but then he needs to work on his voice modulation a little more. Sakshi was pretty and though she looked soft she did her best to suit the tough role. Sumeet was excellent in his performance and so was Vibha who carried out the role of a cop perfectly. The real show stealer despite all the drawbacks was Prasad Purandare who came up with an exceptional performance. Amruta was boisterous and theatrical, Upyendra was effective. The others did their bit and contributed whatever they could to make things better. Conclusion: This is definitely not a Varma sitting with his writers and devising the film, though the technical aspects are truly good it is the other aspects which were a complete let down. The first one hour of the film was nice and took off with good momentum but slowly the graph started dipping before the interval. Things went from bad to worse in the second half and even before one could realize, the climax went through and the film ended. The story was utter disaster and did not have anything to offer, since the backdrop was gangsters and underworld, the option of novelty was limited but since Varma was at the helm, expectations were high which came down falling on the ground like a pack of cards. verdict : Not a Varma recipe!! Disappointing!!!

SARKAR RAJ MOVIE REVIEW

Sequels are dicey business. No matter how much you improvise on your new script, you cannot escape comparisons. And when you attempt a sequel of a critically acclaimed film that's a huge box-office grosser as well, it's akin to walking on a tight rope.

Most importantly, post RAMGOPAL VARMA KI AAG, Ramgopal Varma was everyone's favorite punching bag [till TASHAN dethroned RGV KI AAG]. “Finished”, “spent force”, “has-been”, “Pack up” were commonly used terms for RGV.

Now here's great news! SARKAR RAJ supersedes the prequel and most importantly, RGV bounces back like never before. If you felt SHIVA and later SATYA were his finest efforts, you've got to watch SARKAR RAJ. An outstanding film in all respects, this film has all it takes to emerge a major success story at the box-office… and a landmark film in everyone's careers.

When Anita [Aishwarya Rai Bachchan], CEO of Sheppard Power Plant, an international company, brings a power plant proposal to set up in rural Maharashtra before the Nagres, insightful Shankar [Abhishek Bachchan] is quick to realize the benefits the power plant can bring to the people.

After convincing Sarkar [Amitabh Bachchan], who is against it for various reasons, Shankar undertakes a journey along with Anita to the villages of Maharashtra to mobilize support from the masses.

However, things are not what they seem to be and Shankar's dream project gradually becomes a political minefield. The evil forces, mightier than ever, mushroom and gang up to bring down the regime of Sarkar and obliterate Shankar's name from the political horizon.

SARKAR RAJ exudes a lot of power from the word 'Go'. But let's not categorize SARKAR RAJ as yet another “political film”. Emotions and relationships run concurrently in those 2+ hours. What works in favor of SARKAR RAJ is its tight writing. It's not difficult to decipher the power play, but more importantly, there's meat in the script. It leaves you awe-struck as the plot thickens. The film throws a number of surprises, but the best is reserved for the penultimate 20/25 minutes. The culmination to the story is simply fantastic!

RGV shines like never before. He takes to SARKAR RAJ with a vengeance. He has to prove that the sequel is better, he has to prove the detractors wrong too. While RGV has handled the subject with great expertise, you cannot ignore a few scenes that leave a lasting impact…
* Ash's first meeting with the Bachchans to explain the power project;
* Govind Namdev trying to bribe Abhishek;
* The Bachchans' visit to Dilip Prabhawalkar's residence;
* The Bachchans' discussion over Kay Kay [who was shot dead by Abhishek in the prequel];
* The turning point in the film [not to be disclosed];
* The penultimate reels when the real culprit stands exposed. It hits you like a ton of bricks.

Besides its strong content, SARKAR RAJ has been filmed exceptionally well too. In fact, SARKAR RAJ has the trademark RGV stamp in every sequence. The review would be incomplete without giving the due credit to writer Prashant Pandey's incredible and almost flawless script. Amar Mohile's background score is topnotch. The by-now-famous 'Govinda' chant in the background only enhances the impact. Amit Roy's cinematography is exceptional. The DoP succeeds in giving the film the raw-n-rustic look, which works very well. Action [Allan Amin], in minimal doses, is perfect.

SARKAR RAJ is embellished with superb performances! Amitabh Bachchan, expectedly, comes up with a terrific performance. He's as ferocious as a wounded tiger in the finale and takes the film to great heights.

First YUVA, then GURU, now SARKAR RAJ. Abhishek Bachchan is cast opposite the finest actor of this country, yet he sparkles in every sequence. This time, the father and son go neck to neck as far as acting honors go. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is fabulous and delivers her career-best performance in SARKAR RAJ. Enough has been written about her looks, but not much space has been devoted to her performances. HUM DIL DE CHUKE SANAM, DEVDAS, PROVOKED, GURU, JODHAA AKBAR and now SARKAR RAJ - she's only got better with every film.

Every supporting actor in SARKAR RAJ stands out - Dilip Prabhawalkar [superb], Govind Namdev [first-rate], Sayaji Shinde [perfect], Ravi Kale [terrific] and Supriya Pathak [good]. Tanisha is alright. The actor enacting the role of Dilip Prabhawalkar's grandson makes a strong impact.

On the whole, SARKAR RAJ is an exceptional film in all respects. At the box-office, it has all it takes to set new records in days to come!
