Aiswarya Rai in the film 'Choker Bali' (meaning, sand in the eye) directed by Rituparno Ghosh. It is based on the famous Bengali novel by Rabindranath Tagore. The early 1900's forms the backdrop for this period drama set in Bengal. Now the novel is translated into Malayalam by M. Bileena, titled Kannile Karatu
