TEN WORDS WOMEN USE
Share· Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.
· Five Minutes : If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. However, five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.
· Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.
· Go Ahead : This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!
· Loud Sigh : This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement of women misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)
· That's Okay : This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.
· Thanks : A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').
· Whatever : Is a woman's way of saying' I 'm least bothered ' !
· Don't worry about it, I got it : Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.
· Forget : She tells you to forget means that she will remember it and raise it at the appropriate time.

HI All,
Have you seen recent advertisement of M/S SAINT GOBAIN GLASSES shown in TELEVISION'S - Then you must have known about 2 Way mirror)
How to determine if a mirror is 2 way or not ? (Not a Joke!)
Not to scare you, but to make sure that you aware. Many of the Hotels and Textile showrooms cheat the customers this way.
HOW TO DETECT A 2-WAY MIRROR?
When we visit toilets, bathrooms, hotel rooms, changing rooms, etc.,
How many of you know for sure that the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror I.e., they can
see you, but you can't see them.. There have been many cases of people installing 2-way mirrors in female changing rooms or bathroom or bedrooms.
It is very difficult to positively identify the surface by just looking at it. So, how do we determine with any amount of certainty what type of
mirror we are looking at?
CONDUCT THIS SIMPLE TEST:
Place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface and if there is a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail,
then it is a GENUINE mirror.
However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE, IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR! (There may be someone seeing you from the other side).. So remember, every time you see a mirror, do the "fingernail test." It doesn't cost you anything. It is simple to do.
This is a really good thing to do. The reason there is a gap on a real mirror, is because the silver is on the back of the mirror UNDER the glass.
Whereas with a two-way mirror, the silver is on the surface. Keep it in mind! Make sure and check every time you enter in hotel rooms.

The bodies of 60-year-old Reddy, his special secretary P Subramanyam, chief security officer A S C Wesley, pilot Group Captain S K Bhatia and co-pilot M S Reddy were found on Rudrakonda Hill, 40 nautical miles east of here, besides the mangled remains of the helicopter. ( Watch Video )
YSR's mortal remains are being flown to Kurnool General Hospital. After a postmortem there, they will be brought to Hyderabad, state government sources said.
After being brought to Hyderabad, YSR's body will be taken to the chief minister's camp office in Begumpet. The bodies of the other four people would be taken to their respective native places.
The chief minister's body will be kept at the Lal Bahadur stadium in Hyderabad from 10 am Friday to enable people to pay their last respects.
On Friday, at 1 pm, YSR's body will be taken to Pulivendula, his native town in Kadapa district, where he will be cremated with state honours.
Meanwhile, big crowds have gathered outside the state secretariat and YSR's residence. As Thursday is also the day for the immersion of Ganesh idols at the end of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and there is a huge traffic dislocation in the city, cops are finding it difficult to manage the situation.
The central leadership of the Congress is understood to have cleared the name of Andhra Pradesh finance minister K Rosaiah as the caretaker CM of the state.
The Union Cabinet is meeting to discuss the matter.
The helicopter carrying YSR Reddy, two of his staff and two pilots went missing in pouring rain Wednesday morning over the Naxal and tiger-infested Nalamalla forests.
Nearly 24 hours after YSR's chopper went missing, it was located atop Serai Salem hill, at a distance 40 nautical miles (70 kms) east of Kurnool.
The CM left Hyderabad on a six-seater Bell chopper at 8.35am for Chittoor accompanied by his secretary and chief security officer. After 9.27am, radio contact was lost with the helicopter.
Soon after the chopper lost contact, multiple agencies of the state launched a massive hunt for possible wreckage in the desolate terrain. By evening, it expanded into the country's biggest-ever search operation with satellites in the sky joining remote sensing aircraft, fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, troops on the ground and even barefoot deer-hunting tribals with bows and arrows.

Sept. 2: India’s biggest-ever air, land and satellite search operation failed to locate the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, and others who went missing along with their helicopter on Wednesday in the dense Nallamala forests. The unprecedented effort included ultra-sophisticated remote sensing aircraft of Isro and the IAF, helicopters, Army personnel, 5,000 CRPF men and Andhra and Karnataka police forces.
The Chief Minister had taken off from the Begumpet airport at 8.35 am to go to Chittoor to launch his Rachabanda programme, to talk to drought-affected farmers and quell their fears.
Dr Reddy’s helicopter pilot, Group Captain Bhatia, an Indian Air Force pilot on deputation with the government, last contacted the Air Traffic Control at Chennai at 9.02 am and did not indicate any emergency. Gp Cpt Bhatia, a veteran of the north-east, did not put out any emergency or distress call.
The ATC reported to the state government that contact had been lost with the helicopter at 9.36 am, when the pilot did not make his net contact. At that time, the helicopter was over the dense Nallamala jungles near the Srisailam dam, about 60 nautical miles from Hyderabad. It was carrying fuel for three hours.
The government deployed its own helicopter for the search and as the hours, and anxiety, grew, the Indian Air Force stepped in. By noon, the Union home ministry had alerted the defence ministry and seven IAF helicopters were deployed to the region. Two of the copters from the Hakimpet withdrew due to inclement weather, but the copters deployed from Bengaluru kept up the search till sunset.
“There is no good news yet. We are keeping our fingers crossed. Our prayers are with Rajasekhar Reddy and his family,” Mr Chidambaram told reporters, even as the the home ministry ordered extensive search operations by central paramilitary forces and rushed in 5,000 CRPF men. Police forces from Guntur, Prakasam, Mahbubnagar and Kurnool districts which border the area. The elite anti-naxal Greyhound force, the anti-naxal central COBRA force are also scouring the Nallamalla forests, sources said.
The Union home ministry citing locals reported the last sighting of the helicopter at Iskala village in Pamulapadu block and Atmakur in Kurnool district. Another sighting reported by the state government was between Atmakur and Bandi Atmakar close to Rollapenta in Kurnool district between 9.15 am and 9.30 am.
The IAF later launched a Sukhoi Su-31MKI fighter aircraft equipped with the advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to track down the helicopter. The aircraft returned to Bareily where its data is being analysed,
The Indian Army launched about 300 hundred of its troops including two columns of specialised Ghatak forces into the Nallamalla forests in Andhra Pradesh to search for the helicopter.
Sources said the Army troops were equipped with hand-held thermal imagers and night-vision goggles to search on Wednesday night for any signs of the helicopter. The Indian Space Research Organisation flew two specially-equipped B-200 Beachcraft over the Nallamalla forests. The aircraft flew back to the National Remote Sensing Agency, Hyderabad, with 41 images, each covering 8 sq km. Of the 41 images, 21 were of no use, and no data could be picked up from the others.
The missing copter is equipped with a Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT) which is activated if the helicopter makes a hard landing on the ground. The ELT signals can be tracked by the ISRO but it remains to be seen whether any ELT signals are transmitted. The Centre also deployed a thermal imaging aircraft that can pick out metal on the ground. This aircraft can be refuelled mid-air, meaning that it could operate for a long stretch of time.
The minister of state for defence, Mr M.M. Pallam Raju, said an additional Sukhoi fighter aircraft had been kept in readiness at Mumbai. The National Security Adviser, Mr M.K. Narayanan said that while there is no information so far of any naxalite involvement in the incident.
From dawn on Thursday morning, four IAF choppers will again resume the search operations. The IAF also despatched a Dornier and Avro aircraft to search for the missing chopper.

"Roger."
That was the last radio communication between the pilot of the fateful helicopter carrying Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajashekhar Reddy and the Flight Information Region (FIR) in Chennai. That was around 9.10 am. After a few minutes, the pilot radioed the Hyderabad control that he would be in contact with Chennai, following which Hyderabad handed over the control to the Chennai FIR.
"We haven't heard anything from the chopper after that," an air traffic official privy to the last communication told TOI, explaining the fire-fighting that followed. According to protocol, if no communication is received from an aircraft 30 minutes after its control is handed over to an FIR, the centre goes about plotting three phases: Uncertainty phase, alert phase and distress phase, each at an interval of 30 minutes.
Hearing nothing from the chopper, which was to communicate using a high frequency radio (HF), Chennai FIR kept switching between two HF radios, 6655 KHz and 8909 KHz. "Chennai radio calling Victor Tango Alpha Pappa Golf. Are you reading?" No reply. FIR then tuned into the very high frequency (VHF) band of 123.4 MHz, usually used for communication between pilots.
"We wanted to see if the pilot lost our frequency and was trying some other pilot. When there was still no reply, we tried the universal emergency frequency 121.5 MHz, to which any pilot in an emergency situation is expected to tune in. That too drew a blank," the source said.
FIR then initiated the 'uncertainty phase' and sent out signals to all air traffir control stations and airports in the vicinity such as Tirupati, Mangalore, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore and Hyderabad about the missing chopper.
The 'alert phase' started around 10.40 am and all the stations were called up to inquire about any signals they received. The air traffir management and Airports Authority of India top brass were then informed before going into the 'distress phase'. Subsequently, the regional coordination centre attached to the FIR took over the case.

The Air Force pressed its topline Sukhoi 30 MKI into a night search and flew in Dornier and Avro reconnaissance aircraft. US ambassador to India Tim Roemer and Union home minister P Chidambaram spoke several times through the evening and the US volunteered to provide information picked up by its satellites.
The search operation is now focussed on a 5 km radius, news channels reported early Thursday morning. Rains and bad weather are hampering the search operation.
It was a flight that should not have taken off at all. The Met office had forecast not only heavy rainfall but the likelihood of fierce lightning and thunderstorms. But the 60-year-old politician was adamant. He was to kickstart a new village mass-contact programme called Rachabanda from Chittoor district (better known for housing the Tirupati temple) at 10.30am and there was no way that he was missing his appointment.
The Bell 430 took off at 8.38am from Begumpet airport, not more than 2km from Reddy's residence, on its 500-km journey. For about 30 minutes, things were fine and the pilot was in touch with the air traffic control (ATC). But soon after entering the space over the Nallamalla forests, it ran into problems. Rain was thick and visibility was zero. What happened thereafter remains a mystery so far but in all probability, the helicopter went down. The helicopter was last in contact with the ATC at 9.12am. The chopper had fuel to fly for 2.45 hours, enough to make it to Chittoor.
Apart from Reddy, the chopper was carrying principal secretary to CM S Subrahmanyam and YSR's chief security officer ASC Wesley. The craft was being piloted by group captain S K Bhatia and captain M S Reddy.
"It was last sighted by villagers between Atmakur and Bandiatmakur close to Rollapenta entering the Nallamalla forests from Kurnool district towards Prakasam district between 9.15 am and 9.30 am," chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy said.
In New Delhi, there was a flurry of activity in the Congress and the home ministry went into a tizzy, setting in motion all emergency procedures possible. Minister of state for defence P Raju said the emergency locating transmitter (ELT) had not been activated and this gave hope that the chopper had made a safe landing.
What is causing immense worry is that Nallamalla, or 'Black Hills' in Telugu, is a dense, hilly, forest that is an extension of the Eastern Ghats. It was once the main area of operation for AP Naxals and armed cadres are still suspected to be hiding out in the forest camps. But what is known for sure is that the forest is tiger territory.
"For the last three days, the forest region has seen heavy rains and zero visibility. The Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers are overflowing and the Srisailam reservoir is full. The area is full of water," A V Rao, a Kurnool resident, told TOI. The area is sparsely populated with Chenchu tribals. "It is an inaccessible area with no cellphone towers, radio signals," Rao added. Strangely enough for a helicopter carrying the chief minister, the Bell 430 did not have a satellite phone connection.
Alarm bells started ringing in the state government headquarters from mid-day but police parties which were sent out drew a blank as they could not venture out too far in pouring rain. Meanwhile, the rumour mill was active with stories flying thick and fast about how the chief minister had been rescued. Faced with a barrage of queries, finance minister K Rosiah called a press conference to deny that Reddy had been found.
Later in the day, chief secretary Ramakanth Reddy said two IAF helicopters from Bangalore and one private chopper from Krishnapatnam in Nellore district scoured the area but found no sign of the CM's chopper. "Earlier, two IAF choppers from Hakimpet had set out but had to return halfway because of the inclement weather. The state has now deployed an aircraft belonging to the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) which is operating throughout Monday night at a height of 1.5 km over the forest area where the helicopter was last sighted," the chief secretary said.
Teams which entered the Nallamalla forests during the day on foot had to return because of adverse weather conditions. "We went upto 20 km into the forest but had to return as the rivers are in spate," K Subba Reddy, a local resident of Velgodu village, told TOI over phone after returning to the village.
Late on Wednesday night, hundreds of Greyhound personnel, raised to fight Naxals, moved into the Nallamalla forest riding on tractors borrowed from Nallakaluva village in Kurnool district as part of the search operations. Officials from the revenue and forest departments, AP Special Police and tribals were also pressed into service, the chief secretary said.

ShareNEW DELHI: The downcast mood at the Congress headquarters mirrored the dark, overcast sky on Wednesday. Their concern was palpable and a
On his way to the airport in the evening, en route to Hyderabad, law minister Veerappa Moily told TOI, "We still have no news. But operations will go on through the night. I am worried by the developments, but we are doing all we can. ISRO has been asked to help locate the missing chopper." Apart from central leaders, Andhra Pradesh MPs were also airdashing to Hyderabad.
The downcast mood was understandable as Y S Rajasekhara Reddy or "YSR" has forded the Vindhyas to demonstrate how a leader from the South could make himself a key influence with the party leadership, while emerging as a satrap who towers above other regional bosses.
The 2009 Lok Sabha polls entrenched YSR on the national scene, even though he was happy with a state role. The canvas that was explored by leaders like Sharad Pawar, Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav is now YSR's, but his impact was more behind the scene as far as the Centre is concerned. But it cannot be understated with a tally of 33 MPs when Congress was not expected to touch half of its 2004 tally of 29.
YSR did this even as his views on Telangana were uncompromising and the collapse of Satyam hurt. He returned to power all by himself backing his instincts fiercely and delivered a huge leg up to the Congress. The surprise victory — not for him — made him a legend overnight.
For a heavily centralised AICC not given to accommodating satraps, Reddy has managed to carve a place for himself as a regional heavyweight, even reviving a non-existent phenomenon. He has done this without losing his tag as a firm 10, Janpath favourite. As a state boss, he seems to have left behind satraps like J B Patnaik of Orissa and, on a much smaller scale of political significance, Bhajan Lal.
Reddy consciously kept the central leadership on his side, delivering key promises on time. His role in breaking Telugu Desam Party ahead of July 22 confidence vote, despite the MPs being under the close watch of their chief Chandrababu Naidu, also endeared himself to the powers-that-be.
The success of 'tiger of Cuddapah' to have his way with high command marks his importance as an organiser. And the fear of any calamity leaving a void in its wake is writ large on the faces worried about the party's future in Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy has not just authored a roadmap to bring down Telugu Desam Party chieftain Chandrababu Naidu, he has also chartered the party through a difficult phase when it had to confront hostile elements like TRS and an agenda of bifurcation which may have cost him his place with the constituents in Rayalaseema and Coastal regions.
With a mix of stubbornness, a strongarm approach and shrewd politics, the organiser-in-chief has moulded a dissidence-ridden unit into a cohesive machine, though not without ruffling feathers. While in the process he earned a fair share of detractors, he has been helped by a trusting leadership which has thrown its lot behind him whenever delegations have come knocking at 10, Janpath.
The resultant stability has proved a boon for Congress by neutralising the 'Telugu pride' card which regional outfit Telugu Desam has played to trip it. It is not for nothing that workers are worried and the leadership is hoping for the best.
ysr missing - Tribals, not technology, helped in the past,(myhotgallery.blogspot.com)
Share
HYDERABAD: Although the Centre and the Andhra Pradesh government are sparing no effort to locate Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s chopper with aerial reconnaissance and satellite imagery, it is pertinent to note that it was human intelligence and not high-end technology that helped locate two chopper crash sites in recent times.
The two choppers, one owned by the Chhattisgarh government and the other hired by it, crashed in July 2007 and August 2008. In both instances, the government had pressed into service Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and helicopters for aerial surveillance, but several sorties yielded no result. Ultimately, tribals helped locate the wreckage.
Chhattisgarh police officers, who monitored the search operations then, said it was extremely difficult to locate any wreckage by scanning the area through binoculars. Also, the possibility of wreckage or a crash-landed chopper would depend solely on weather conditions. A downpour reduces visibility and any kind of ‘low-flying’ would not help, officers say. Thick foliage is another problem that would confront ‘air-search teams.’
Officers surmise that in this season the forest cover in Nallamala would be extremely thick, and it would be difficult to see through the canopy.
In the first crash, the government-owned EC-135 chopper took off from Bhopal on July 14, 2007, to Raipur, and disappeared midway. With rumours of Maoists shooting down the chopper, the Chhattisgarh government spared no effort in locating the wreckage, but failed. A week later, a tribal found the wreckage on top of a hillock near Dammudhara village.
Authorities who trekked into the jungle deduced that the chopper could have been flying low because of inclement weather and crashed into a tree atop the hillock. The pilot, Captain A.S. Sidhu, co-pilot Vikram Savekar, and two other technicians died in the crash.
In the second incident, a chopper (Bell-430) hired by the government took off from the Begumpet airport in Hyderabad on its way to Raipur on August 3, 2008. It lost contact an hour later, triggering suspicions that Maoists might have shot it down in the Bastar forests, as it was their stronghold. The deployment of UAVs and two choppers for aerial reconnaissance did not help.
Three months later, a tribal found the wreckage on a hillock at Kodijuttugutta village in Khammam district. In this case, the police successfully employed the strategy of publishing pictures of helicopters and contacting tribals in weekly shanties, urging them to look for any wreckage. Four persons, including two pilots, were killed in this crash.

Round-the-clock IAF missio |
The helicopter normally used for official travel by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy returns after a search operation over the Nallamala forest area.
NEW DELHI: After nearly daylong helicopter-borne search operations to locate Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and his co-passengers, police and Central paramilitary forces continued their search operations on foot late on Wednesday trying to reach the point where the missing chopper was thought to be last seen.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched its state-of-the-art Sukhoi-MK 30 fighter jet from its Bareilly airbase to scan the area. According to official sources, the IAF’s mission was on a par with the missions to locate its missing aircraft.
One official IAF source said: “The IAF is following the drill of scrutinising inputs from radar and using the synthetic aperture radar method in a bid to locate the missing chopper. With the help of radar images, we can sweep the area.” The mission would go on through the night.
The IAF has pressed into service an Il-78 aircraft with air-to-air refuelling capability to support the Su-MK-30 in its search operations. An operations control room has been set up at Kurnool by the IAF. Earlier, four IAF helicopters joined the search operations over the thickly forested Nallamala area.
As news came of Dr. Reddy being untraceable, Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram personally started monitoring the search operations from the North Block headquarters of his Ministry. The Home Minister, who returned here after an early morning visit to Chandigarh, cancelled his appointments for the day and remained in touch with officials in Delhi and Hyderabad.
“There is no good news yet. We’re keeping our fingers crossed. Our prayers are with Rajasekhara Reddy and his family,” he told reporters in the evening, more than nine hours after the Chief Minister’s helicopter had lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC).
Mr. Chidambaram said the search on foot by forest and revenue officials was on around the point where they think the helicopter was last seen. Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were moving on foot. “I have advised the State government to continue the search even during the night with whatever light can be provided,” a grim-looking Minister told reporters. He said the search operations would be intensified at the crack of dawn on Thursday.
Later, Mr. Chidambaram drove to the Race Course Road residence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and briefed him on the search operations. The Home Ministry rushed five companies of CRPF personnel to the area from Chhattisgarh and Orissa.
Locator Transmitter
Shockingly, according to Minister of State for Defence M.M. Pallam Raju, the helicopter’s Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) was not working. Had it been working, it would have emitted high-frequency signals in the event of a crash. “These signals,” one aviation expert pointed out, “can be picked up by search helicopters as far away as 100 to 200 km and the location of the chopper or aircraft in case of a crash can be found.”

ShareAndhra Chief Minister YS Reddy's case is, of course, not the first high profile chopper accident in the country.
But while some have been tragic, others have seen miraculous escapes.
Reddy was in a Bell 430 helicopter that went missing on Wednesday morning.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has confirmed that the helicopter did have a valid certificate of airworthiness despite an entry in its own website that the helicopter did not have this certificate for a period of two years.
Aviation authorities point out that ahead of every flight, the helicopter needs to be checked and certified by a qualified flight engineer and there is no way this would have been skipped in the case of a VIP flight.
The Bell helicopter was sold to the Andhra government in 1998.
It is a twin-engine helicopter fully equipped to fly in poor weather conditions.
The Helicopter is equipped with a Emergency Landing Transmitter (ELT), which sends out signals in case of a hard landing or crash.
These signals, which are encoded to be picked up by ISRO satellites, have not been received.
What remains clear is that the helicopter was cleared for a flight in poor weather conditions, so severe that even some search helicopters of the Indian Air Force were initially forced to abandon their operations.
This is not the first time that VIPs have been involved in helicopter crashes in the country.
On September 30, 2001
Madhav Rao Scindia, the senior Congress leader was killed along with six others when the private plane he was in went down near Mainpuri in UP.
On 3 March 3, 2002
Lok Sabha speaker GMC Balayogi was killed in a helicopter crash.
On July 28, 2003
Dr Vijay Mallya, UB group chairman and Rajya Sabha MP survived this helicopter crash with sixpeople on board.
On March 31, 2005
OP Jindal, the Minister of Power in the Government of Haryana was killed when his helicopter went down near Saharanpur.
It's still too early to say what happened to YSR Reddy, but the increasing number of helicopter incidents in the country, not all of them are crashes, will clearly have the directorate general of civil aviation worried.
ysr missing - Search narrowed to 200-400 sq kms, (myhotgallery.blogspot.com)
ShareThe focus on finding Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Reddy has shifted to massive ground operations and search is on in an area of broadly 1200-1300 sq kms but the focus area is much smaller of roughly 200-400 sq km. But rainfall is hampering search operations as the combing operation is on.
Army and state forces are searching the area and 41 satellite images are being analysed.
Indian Air Force aircrafts are looking for any signs of YS Reddy's chopper. Sukhoi 30 fighter planes have been deployed. These have advanced radars and can map an area day or night.
They will work through the night, since they can re-fuel mid-air. They will conduct thermal imaging, their results expected by Thursday morning.
The army and police from 6 districts are involved in the ground search. They will work through the night, special night-vision equipment has been requested.
Andhra's anti-Naxal forces have also been sent to Nallamalla forest area, because they are familiar with the jungle terrain here. Local tribals from this part of the state, considered Naxal Country, are helping with the search mission. Patrol parties have been sent by boat to search on the River Krishna.
ISRO's special aircraft have also been deployed. Its satellites which can see through cloud cover will pass over the forest area on Thursday morning. These satellite reports will be filed by Thursday afternoon.
The area being combed is south of Hyderabad. The territory is huge, around the town of Atmakur, in the Eastern part of the Kurnool district. But the search also extends to Cuddapah, Guntur, Anantpur, Prakasam, and Mahaboobnagar.
What's happening right now:
- Search is down to 200-400 sq km, the focus the Nallamalla forests over which the chopper was flying when contact was lost
- ISRO has taken 41 satellite pictures, analysis awaited; this could come as early as tonight
- No signal picked up from chopper, a good sign; Dornier equipped to pick up electronic signals did not pick up anything
- Sukhoi 30 aircraft joins the search operation as part of the massive rescue operations, the army, the Air Force, police all part of search efforts
- Sukhoi 30s to do thermal imaging
- Pictures should be available from the Sukhoi 30s later tonight
- 300 army jawans in search operation
- Jawans carrying night vision equipment
- But rainfall and bad weather are hampering search operations

ShareThe 60-year-old Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh took off in his helicopter for Chittoor at 8.35 am on Wednesday. Like always, YSR was travelling with his special secretary Subramaniam, chief security officer Wilson, and two pilots on the 7-seater Bell 430 helicopter.
The journey should have taken him 2 hours. But at 9.05 am, air traffic control officials lost contact with the helicopter when it was over the Kurnool district. The weather had turned stormy with gales of wind and bursts of rain.
Seven helicopters were soon sent on a search and rescue mission. But heavy rain made their mission a tough one.
The dense forest area in the Nallamalalla hill range where Reddy went missing is 250 kms from Hyderabad. There are hardly any roads, and no mobile or radio networks. This is also Naxal Country.
Sources say that helicopter was spotted between 9.15 to 9.30 am.
By noon, worried ministers and officials went public with the news that they didn't know where the chief minister was. Then followed chaos. Local police officials and politicians started telling journalists that the chief minister was safe.
Not true, said the Home Minister in Delhi. TV channels began reporting the contradictions. Local channels, including one owned by the chief minister's son said YSR was safe.
But Air Force choppers ordered into search and rescue delivered no good news. And the Congress soon went on record to say the situation seems grim.
The army, police forces from 6 districts, ISRO and anti-Naxal forces are all involved in search and rescue operations now.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy was on his way to Anuppalle village in Chittoor district |
Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, photographed at Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport, gets ready to board the helicopter on Wednesday morning.
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh was plunged into a crisis after Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who completed just 110 days in office in his second term, went missing along with two key aides and pilots in a helicopter somewhere in the vicinity of the dense Nallamala forest on Wednesday morning.
A sombre and uncertain mood prevailed among leaders across the political spectrum as search operations launched on an unprecedented scale by land and air through the day failed to yield any results as the missing Bell-430 helicopter could not be located since it lost contact with air traffic control authorities at 9.35 a.m.
The Chief Minister was on his way from Begumpet airport in Hyderabad to Anuppalle village in Chittoor district to take part in a mass contact programme with rural folk. The journey, that was expected to last two hours and 20 minutes, was feared to have ended soon after the chopper was sighted by villagers between Atmakur and Bandi Atmakur in Kurnool district, mid-way from Hyderabad to Chittoor.
Dismay and disbeliefThere was a sense of utter dismay and disbelief among people, who held special prayers in temples, as the updates given by Finance Minister K. Rosaiah and Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy only reflected the gravity of the situation and held out little hope that the Chief Minister’s helicopter could be traced early.
The State administration went into high gear by pressing into service at least seven aircraft for the search operations, including five helicopters of the Indian Air Force from Hakimpet and Yelahanka; three private choppers; another one belonging to the State government, and two fixed-wing aircraft. Thousands of policemen fanned out into the forest area, which until recently was a hideout for Maoists.
Mr. Ramakanth Reddy said the Union government had been requested to seek the help of the U.S. Defence Department to secure satellite imagery to locate the ill-fated chopper. An aircraft of the National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), capable of flying at altitudes as low as 1.25 km and covering 250 sq km even in inclement weather, was flying over the areas where the chopper is feared to have made an emergency landing. However, the search operations were hampered by incessant rain and cloud cover, which forced two IAF copters sent from Hakimpet to return to the base within no time. “There is still no clue about the missing Bell-430 chopper. But the call of my conscience says Dr. Reddy will return safely,” Mr. Rosaiah said.
In the helicopter along with the Chief Minister was his Special Secretary P. Subramanyam, an IAS officer, and Chief Security Officer A.S.C. Weseley. Between them, they were carrying four mobile phones, including one belonging to the Chief Minister. But it is unlikely that they were of any use since there were no signals in the area. The helicopter was piloted by Group Captain S.K. Bhatia and Capt. M. S. Reddy, both highly experienced and fully qualified.
Airworthy?Seeking to dispel fears that the Bell-430 helicopter was not fully airworthy, the A. P. Avaition Corporation, which operates the chopper, said that it was issued the Certificate of Airworthiness by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation, Hyderabad, and that the certificate was valid up to December 2010.
The Corporation added that the helicopter was equipped with an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) capable of automatic transmission of radio signals. This would have been activated in case of any crash or crash-landing but no such signal was picked by the Dornier 228 aircraft launched from the IAF base at Yelahanka.
President Pratibha Patil, now in Moscow, enquired from the Chief Secretary about the safety of Dr. Reddy, while Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who were regularly monitoring the situation from New Delhi, spoke to Dr. Reddy’s wife, Vijayalakshmi Reddy, and his son, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. Ms. Sonia Gandhi is expected to arrive in Hyderabad on Thursday to take stock of the situation.
